The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE), describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14 in India under Article 21a of the Indian Constitution. India became one of 135 countries to make education a fundamental right of every child when the Act came into force on 1 April 2010. Section 12(1)(c) of the Right To Education Act guarantees free education for economically weaker and socially backward children in private schools. A study by Indus Action has shown that the benefit for a family is Rs.1,00,000/- per child over 10 years.
The biggest problems in realising this right are awareness and accessibility and Bhumi has been working actively on both domains. Mere one-time support to these children can be a life-transforming opportunity for these families and a wonderful chance at developing socially inclusive societies.

In 2019, through a partnership between TN government, Bhumi and Indus Action, a robust online application and MIS system has been built to make the process more user-friendly and accessible.
This systemic impact has resulted in 16.5% increase in year on year admissions in 2019.
