Journey of Thilip Kumar – From Volunteer to ChangeDriver
Thilip’s association with Bhumi dates back to 2016 when he embarked on his journey as a volunteer for our Civic Volunteering program. His inherent drive to make a difference led him to transition to our teaching program, Ignite, where his passion for education and community outreach flourished.
Born and raised in Trichy, Thilip’s academic pursuits led him to SRM University in Chennai, where he pursued his higher education. Despite the geographical shift, his heart remained tethered to his roots, driving him to create a meaningful impact within his community.
Celebrating a Milestone:
His journey within Bhumi has been a tapestry woven with diverse experiences. From volunteering in Catalyse to taking on leadership roles in mentoring project Lakshya under Ignite, Thilip’s dedication was unlimited. His transition to a full-time role as a ChangeDriver in April 2023 marked a significant milestone, solidifying his commitment to Bhumi’s cause.
A Mosaic of Interests:
But beyond his professional endeavours lies a world illuminated by his diverse interests. Thilip’s love for horse riding traces back to his childhood days, fostered by his grandfather’s influence. His quest for professional expertise led him to pursue formal training, igniting a passion that continues to shape his life.
Shooting, an unconventional hobby for many, finds a special place in Thillip’s heart. In Chennai, where horses are less accessible, shooting ranges offer a haven for his recreational pursuits. His fascination with aviation, stemming from his defense aspirations, fuels his dream of obtaining a private pilot license.
Serving Others with Selflessness:
However, beyond his personal pursuits lies a profound commitment to serving others. Inspired by his mother’s selflessness, Thilip’s values align seamlessly with Bhumi’s mission to bridge educational gaps for underprivileged children. He firmly believes in eradicating the notion of ‘underprivileged’ and strives to create equal opportunities for all.
His pride resonates in the impact he’s made through projects like Lakshya, where teaching life skills and career guidance transformed the aspirations of countless children. Early mornings kickstart with invigorating activities, setting the tone for a day packed with calls, office work, and nurturing volunteer connections. Weekends are reserved for shelter home visits, a testament to his commitment beyond the office walls.
