As one of the youngest overall chapter leaders for Bhumi, currently leading the Pune chapter, Tanmay’s story showcases the transformative power of volunteerism and personal growth.
From Humble Beginnings to Academic Excellence
Tanmay hails from Pune, where his journey began in a vernacular medium school. Despite facing numerous challenges, he excelled academically, securing the first rank in his tenth standard.
The transition to an English medium for his college studies was tough, but Tanmay’s determination saw him through. He graduated in 2023 with a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and now works as an Associate Software Engineer at KPIT.
The Spark of Volunteerism
Tanmay was always driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact on society. Inspired by the youngest IPS officer, Safin Hasan, he realized the importance of contributing to society through volunteerism. This realization led him to Bhumi in March 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Climbing the Ranks at Bhumi
Tanmay’s journey at Bhumi is a story of rapid growth and impactful leadership. He started as a volunteer, quickly moved up to become a Center Coordinator, then as a Project Coordinator, and eventually took on the role of a Chapter Support Team Member. Today, he stands as the overall Chapter Leader for Bhumi Pune, a role that fills him with immense pride and responsibility.
The Heartwarming Nakshatra Moment
One of the most touching moments in Tanmay’s journey at Bhumi was during his first Nakshatra event. Nakshatra, the annual talent festival for children, was a project he took on with great responsibility.
The overwhelming emotions he felt when the children started arriving brought him to tears. It was a moment of realization that his efforts had made a tangible difference, a memory that still brings a smile to his face.
Balancing Life with Volunteering
Despite his busy schedule as a software engineer, Tanmay finds time to volunteer, driven by the changes he sees in himself and the community. He enjoys spending his leisure time cooking simple, homemade dishes, a new hobby that brings him joy and relaxation. Tanmay is also an avid traveler, with Switzerland on his bucket list for its breathtaking beauty.

Tanmay draws inspiration from his grandmother, a government servant who supported his education and instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. Her dream of seeing him as a government officer still lingers, but Tanmay is also considering pursuing his passion for social work and furthering his studies.
