Introducing Swati Chamaria from Kolkata, amidst the myriad of aspirations and dreams. Her journey from a dedicated Bhumi volunteer to a full-time ChangeDriver is a story of personal growth highlighting the transformative power of volunteering.

Discovering the Call to Serve

Born and raised in Kolkata, Swati pursued her BCom in Accounting from Calcutta University and then completed her degree specializing in Hotel, Motel and Hospitality Management. In 2019, she stumbled upon Bhumi through a friend’s inspiring tale. Despite initial hurdles, Swati’s determination led her to join Bhumi’s Nakshatra event, marking the beginning of her profound journey.

 Her story reminds us that volunteering isn’t just about giving; it’s about finding joy in service and spreading love.

Diverse Roles, Unwavering Passion

Swati’s journey within Bhumi has been marked by diversity and growth. From project lead to HR CST, she has embraced every opportunity with zeal.

Her resilience and dedication caught the attention of Bhumi’s national team, propelling her into roles of greater responsibility. She is now a full-time employee in the pivotal role of Associate for Volunteer Management at Bhumi.

One of the proud initiatives that she manages with ownership is managing the esteemed intern portal for availing opportunities and for recruiting volunteers for several open roles. It is one of those tasks that Swati loves to do!

Finding Joy in Service & Hobbies

For Swati, volunteering transcended mere service; it became her lifeline during a challenging phase. The joy of making a difference and witnessing smiles of gratitude transformed her introverted self into an enthusiastic communicator.

Beyond her volunteering endeavors, Swati finds solace in cooking and creative pursuits. She loves to design digital collatorals, having demonstrated for many past Bhumi events and feels hopeful to try bungee-jumping soon to get over her fear for heights.

Challenges and Growth

Navigating the realms of volunteer management, Swati found her biggest support in Bhumi’s Kolkata chapter. Mentors like Tanesha, Siddharth, Abhijit, and Neha provided guidance and encouragement, fostering her growth.

And, shares gratitude for guidance from Kathampari, Ranjeetha and her entire volunteer management team who along with the bright volunteers who make her daily hustle fun and exciting.

Memorable Moments

Reflecting on her journey, Swati recalls her first Nakshatra event as a defining moment. The collective effort of volunteers and the radiant smiles of children left an indelible mark on her heart.
