Priyambada Singh: A Journey of Compassion, Culture, and Creativity
Priyambada Singh, a dynamic and passionate volunteer, has been an integral part of Bhumi since January 7th, 2018. Hailing from the vibrant city of Kolkata, Priyambada’s journey is a beautiful blend of cultural curiosity, academic excellence, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Priyambada’s story with Bhumi began as a PR volunteer. She immersed herself in various events, from Women’s Day celebrations to blood donation camps. Her enthusiasm and dedication quickly saw her taking on more responsibilities. By 2019, she was actively participating in initiatives like “Paint the Wall”, where she connected with fellow volunteers and deepened her bond with the Bhumi community.
The 2020 Kolkata Marathon marked the last offline event before the pandemic, and like many, Priyambada transitioned to online volunteering during the lockdown. Her leadership skills shone as she coordinated and led virtual events, including the online Nakshatra. Her commitment led her to take on the role of City Level Coordinator for Bhumi’s HR in 2021, and by 2022, she became the City Coordinator for Bhumi Refresh, Kolkata.
Priyambada’s educational journey is equally impressive. A pass out from Calcutta Girls’ High School, her volunteering journey started in school as early as class 7 and she later joined Leadership Training Services (LTS) during her higher education in 2011-2013 as a CGHS student volunteer.
By profession, she is an esteemed Guest Lecturer – Assistant Professor at Kolkata College and impressively juggles the hats of an Audit Manager at a CA Firm in Kolkata and as a creative Digital Marketing & Branding Freelancing professional.
But there’s more to Priyambada than just her professional and volunteer commitments. She is a true cinephile, with a particular love for Bollywood movies and dubbed Tamil and Telugu films. Movies are more than just entertainment for her; they are a window into the diverse cultures of India, something she is deeply passionate about. Priyambada loves learning about the traditions and customs of different Indian states, often diving into cultural research before watching films.
Her love for travel is another aspect of her multifaceted personality. Priyambada has traveled extensively, with Thailand and London being her favorite international destinations. What sets her apart as a traveler is her penchant for discovering hidden gems in every city she visits. Whether in her hometown of Kolkata or abroad,
Priyambada is always on the lookout for lesser-known spots that offer a unique glimpse into the local culture. She is also an adventurous foodie, with a taste for multi-cuisine dishes. Though a non-vegetarian at home, she prefers sticking to vegetarian options when dining out, unless she’s at a trusted restaurant. A quirky habit of hers is waiting for ice cream to melt before enjoying it, and she finds comfort in the simple pleasure of having toast with Maggi.
Priyambada’s love for books is just as distinctive. While many gravitate towards mainstream bestsellers, she prefers out-of-the-box reads. Her bookshelf features works like ‘Dongri to Dubai’, a detailed account of Mumbai’s underworld, and books by Khushwant Singh, her favorite author. Her reading choices reflect her inquisitive mind and her desire to explore unconventional topics.
Looking forward, Priyambada continues to blend her love for culture, learning, and community service. She remains a crucial part of Bhumi, leading with passion and inspiring those around her. As she steps into new roles and takes on new challenges, Priyambada Singh embodies the spirit of a true volunteer – one who is driven by a deep desire to create a positive impact, learn continuously, and explore the richness of the world around her. #HumansOfBhumi
