The Unstoppable Journey of Niyati Jain – A Bhumi Volunteer with a Heart of Gold
In the bustling city of Kolkata, where the rhythm of life never slows, Niyati Jain, a dynamic and passionate individual, is making a significant impact through her volunteer work with Bhumi.
Niyati’s journey with Bhumi began during her first year of college, but the seeds of her passion for social work were sown even earlier, during her high school years. Though she wanted to join an NGO at that time, her academic responsibilities took precedence. It was only after her board exams that Niyati finally took the plunge, encouraged by a friend who introduced her to Bhumi. Since then, she has never looked back.
Her initial months with Bhumi were spent observing and learning. Niyati took her time to understand the organization and its projects before diving into action. Today, she is an integral part of the De-Step project in Kolkata, where she has grown from being a passive observer to leading the entire initiative. Her journey proves her dedication and leadership skills.
Professionally, Niyati has a rich background. She completed her undergraduate studies and comes with four years of rich experience in organizations such as Deloitte USA and NCS Travels under her belt. Despite a successful career, Niyati’s thirst for knowledge and self-improvement led her to leave her job to pursue an MBA. Simultaneously, she is a certified career coach, a role she has embraced for the past three years. Her career counseling sessions, which she offers to underprivileged children, students, and working professionals alike, are aimed at helping individuals navigate their career paths based on their personalities, interests, skills, and values.
Recently, Niyati launched her own career counseling website, a milestone that marks her growing influence in the field. She is eager to collaborate with NGOs to offer career counseling to children, helping them carve out successful futures. Her first experience conducting career counseling sessions at Bhumi, about a year ago, was profoundly impactful. It was an eye-opener that made her realize the potential she had to guide young minds towards a bright future.
Beyond her professional and volunteer work, Niyati is a person of many interests. Dance is her passion, a hobby that allows her to express herself creatively. Although she doesn’t often record her dance sessions, it remains a personal joy. Niyati’s love for food is another defining aspect of her personality. A self-proclaimed foodie, she delights in experimenting with quirky food combinations. One of her favorite unconventional treats is adding Momos to soup, topped with chutney, a fusion that might raise eyebrows but brings her immense satisfaction. Another favorite of hers is a homemade pizza made with chapati, macaroni, veggies, cheese, and pizza sauce – a unique twist that she swears by.
Niyati’s sense of humor and playful spirit shine through in her anecdotes. She fondly recalls a childhood memory of causing a minor flood in her neighborhood by opening all the water tanks when she was just 11 months old. Another amusing incident from her school days involved her leading a protest chant against an unpopular vice principal, an act that still brings a smile to her face.
Niyati Jain’s journey with Bhumi and beyond is a beautiful blend of passion, dedication, and a zest for life. She continues to inspire others with her commitment to making a difference, whether through her volunteer work, career counseling, or simply by being her authentic self. Her story is a reminder that with determination and heart, one can pave the way not only for oneself but also for others, creating ripples of positive change in the community. #HumansOfBhumi
