From Kanyakumari to Chennai: A Journey of Learning and Growth
Jenibha hails from the serene town of Kanyakumari, a place known for its natural beauty and tranquility. Growing up in Marthandam, she completed her schooling there before moving to the bustling city of Chennai for higher studies. A scholar at heart, Jenibha pursued a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Women’s Christian College (WCC), a choice she made in her early years without a clear career direction in mind. However, life had other plans for her, leading her to discover her true calling in the field of Human Resources.
With an MSW in HR specialization from Mar Gregorios College, Jenibha’s journey into the world of HR began in Chennai. She gained valuable experience working in a KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) for almost four years. However, life called her back to Kanyakumari, where she took a much-needed break, recharging before diving back into her professional life. This hiatus led her to another stint in the corporate world, where she further honed her HR skills in the IT sector.
The Leap into Nonprofit: Finding Her Niche at Bhumi
The corporate experience was fulfilling, but deep down, Jenibha always knew she wanted to make a difference in the nonprofit sector. The turning point came when she stumbled upon an opening at Bhumi, an organization she had long admired. It felt like fate had finally aligned with her career aspirations, and after a few rounds of discussions, she joined Bhumi in December 2019.
Since then, Jenibha has been instrumental in shaping the HR processes at Bhumi, bringing in her corporate experience to build robust systems and nurturing a work culture that resonates with our mission. Her role at Bhumi is not just a job; it’s a fulfillment of a long-held dream to contribute meaningfully to society, and this drives her every day.
A Multifaceted Personality
When she’s not busy managing HR operations at Bhumi, Jenibha is a lady of many interests. One of her consistent passions is reading, especially novels that transport her to different universes. For her, fiction is a way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and lose herself in stories that ignite her imagination.
But that’s not all. Jenibha has a curious mind that loves to explore new hobbies. She’s dabbled in various crafts, from quilling, where she made beautiful paper earrings to macramé, creating intricate wall hangings and keychains. However, her attention span for these hobbies is as fleeting as it is intense. Once she masters a craft, she’s ready to move on to the next challenge, leaving behind a trail of completed projects that speak to her creativity and determination.
The Love for Literature
Among her many literary interests, Jenibha’s all-time favorite is the “Harry Potter” series, a set of books that she holds close to her heart. She’s also a fan of Tamil literature, with works by Kalki Krishnamurthy being among her top picks. Her recent read, a Tamil novel left a deep impact on her, signifying the power of storytelling that transcends time and language.
