In 2010, Divya Venkat’s journey with Bhumi began with a simple invitation from a friend to participate in a newspaper collection campaign. Although intrigued, Divya initially hesitated due to her lack of confidence in teaching skills. However, her determination led her to attend an orientation session, marking the first step toward her inspiring decade-long involvement.
The Journey Unfolds with Bhumi’s Catalyse and REFRESH teams
Despite her initial apprehensions, Divya found her niche in Bhumi’s Catalyse, civic initiatives program, channeling her passion for community service. In the REFRESH team that manages Bhumi events, Divya’s role evolved, cementing her as a vital contributor to Bhumi’s mission. Over the years, her commitment and dedication remained unwavering, shaping her journey within Bhumi.
Empowering Change: Vidhai Recycling
Following her aspirations and academic background from the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology, Divya founded Vidhai Recycling. Her vision was to convert plastic waste into fuel while uplifting the livelihoods of the ragpicker community. Despite setbacks caused by the 2013 crude oil crash, Divya persisted and visited Chennai’s Kodungaiyur dump yard, laying the groundwork for Vidhai’s impactful journey.
A Triumph Through Collaboration
Divya’s story epitomizes the strength of collaboration for societal betterment. Despite challenges and limited knowledge of business intricacies, Divya embarked on a mission to secure partnerships for Vidhai. With persistence and resilience, her efforts bore fruit as Vidhai established collaborations with significant automobile companies like Hyundai and Ford.
